Challenged at their predominantly white institution, the trio dream, hurt, and rely on one another to push through.

Mary or Me

In late summer of 1930 in Bronzeville, Chicago, Luella “Lu” Mary Frost must decide whether to walk to the beat of her own drum and solidify her spot as a professional dancer, or trade her show-business dreams in for nursing school. Lu has a lot on her plate: a God-fearing grandmother who doesn’t approve of dancing, lucid dreams of her deceased mother, and two letters just arrived from the postman that can determine her future.
